MS Dhoni To Be On Patrol, Guard Duties Of Territorial Army In Kashmir

Former Indian captain, MS Dhoni excused himself from India’s upcoming series against West Indies to serve his honorary rank in the Indian Army. In 2015 he became a qualified paratrooper after having completed five parachute training in Agra training camp. Dhoni was awarded the honorary position in Territorial Army battalion as a lieutenant colonel in 2011 after leading Indian cricket team to world cup victory. As requested by the officer and approved by Army headquarters, Col Dhoni will be taking on the duties of patrolling guard, post duty and would be staying with the Army troops. During his posting in Kashmir, Dhoni will be performing the duties of patrolling and guard and will be staying with the troops.

MS Dhoni - Kashmir valley as part of Victor Force

MS Dhoni will be deployed in the Kashmir valley as part of Victor Force, from July 31 to August 15, 2019. The former India captain will stay with the troops and he will take on the duties of patrolling, guard and post duty. Dhoni is a currently an honorary lieutenant-colonel in the Parachute Regiment of the Territorial Army. 

Ever since the culmination of World Cup in the UK where India reached the semi-finals, speculations have been rife about Dhoni’s retirement, but the team management has asked him to hang around as they groom Rishabh Pant with an eye on the 2020 World T20 in Australia.
